Building Relationships with Network Marketing

I've had an editing note from my copyrighting mentor ... 'less words more often', he says ...lol.

We'll just see what I can do about that Richard (grin).

The topic that's been floating around in my brain today is a kind of 'which comes first ... chicken or egg' question. So which comes first ... The business or the relationship?

Going with the idea that network marketing is indeed not a sales business (if you haven't read 'Success in10 Steps' yet, you really oughta ... it's a free download).

If you truly understand that MLM/NWM is NOT a sales business, but rather a relationship business, you might begin to wonder how in the heck it is possible to be sincere in your relationship building efforts without at the same time always having that nagging 'wonder what I can sell 'em' voice recording going on in the background.

I think that this is something that everyone grapples with from time to time. Especially when your family, even well meaning family, challenge the methods (or at least their perception of this kind of marketing) of the industry as a whole and dismiss it and your efforts to share what you've come to know offhand and as a whole package.

The fact is though, that unless you only plan to have the 8% or so of the population who likes to be 'sold' as customers, you'd better come around quick to a comfortable, agenda-free place from which you can gracefully share your company's products.

If you don't, you will , at best, just have created yourself another J.O.B.... not only unpleasant for most, but no one will able be ever to duplicate you either. At worst, you'll alienate everyone you know around you with your annoying sales agenda and cause them to start screening their phone calls in case it's you calling.... maybe you're already all too familiar with this scenario.

This 'agenda free' approach is even more important if it's someone you intend to work with long term.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather aim to widen my possible market (by a lot!) and cater to the needs of the other 92% of the world that does NOT like to be 'sold'. By learning how to present things to them in a way that's more comfortable for their individual personalities, and learning to visit first and be genuinely interested in helping them to find solutions to their own needs and dreams.

Imagine that ... we can become someone to look forward to hearing from. Knowing us will be viewed as an asset! Works for me :)

How much nicer (and easier to build your business) it will be when people look forward to your call.

Till next time ...

To your success!
Andrea

PS. Oh yeah, and I haven't forgotten about the blogging directions ... still getting my ducks together on that one.... soon, very soon ;-)
